Continuing the legacy ...

Dear Atith,

Greetings from Glocal Teen Hero.

Congratulations!

You have been selected as the “Top Six Finalist” of Golchha Group presents Glocal Teen Hero Nepal 2023. Your work and contribution to society have raised us to have you on the list of “Top 6 Finalists” as an Early Change Maker from across the Nation.

I opened my email to read that I had been selected as the top six finalists from a pool of 681 applicants who had applied to Glocal Teen Hero Nepal 2023. To learn that I was among the six teenagers who have had a remarkable impact on their societies was an extremely happy surprise. I had never been that happy in the previous couple of years.

As I read the email, my body trembled, heartbeats raised, and I could no longer sit down. I jumped out of excitement. I rushed to my phone to call my family. Quickly, I opened the video calling application and rang a call. My parents didn't receive it. The adrenaline rush couldn't hold me back from voice-calling my mom on the phone. She picked it up and I shared my magnanimous joy with her.

Luckily, I had explained to her what the program was all about earlier. She responded positively and made a humorous remark, "How have you received this nationwide honor?". She had understood that I was selected amongst other teenagers all over Nepal for my focus on increasing access to education, a focus on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

It was not the first time that I had applied for this recognition. I applied for Glocal Teen Hero in my ninth standard, too. Then, I was involved in the Ward Child Club only. Regardless, I was looking forward to the recognition. Sadly, my application was not accepted. However, this year, I applied with no hopes of getting accepted. I simply shared the work I was doing. Boom, there you go, my application was accepted, I got shortlisted, I was interviewed, and I was selected as the Top Six Finalist.

I felt happy that I was continuing the legacy left behind by ex-xavierians. In 2021, Anurag Chapagain was selected as a Top Six Finalist; in 2022,  Rahul Ranjan Shah (winner) was selected as a Top Six Finalist; in 2023, Atith Adhikari (I) was selected as a Top Six Finalist. Now, it's up to our juniors that they continue the legacy we have created.

SAT: Self-Preparation or Institute?

The Scholarship Aptitude Test (SAT), organized by the College Board, is a foundational stone in college application for Undergraduate Studies, especially in the United States. For many, the SAT could be a differentiating factor between a successful admission cycle and an unsuccessful one. Moreover, several universities offer scholarships to incoming undergraduate freshman based on their SAT scores. How does an SAT look like? An SAT test, now digital, comprises   questions from English and Mathematics. In a nutshell, it is divided into two sections: English Based Reading and Writing (abbreviated as EBRW) and Mathematics. Each section is worth 800 points, making the test worth 1600 points. How to prepare for the SAT? Let us delve into this question section-wise. English Based Reading and Writing (EBRW) For international students who are not native English speakers, this section could be challenging. In everyday communication, these students often believe in "go with the option that ...

An Incubate-eeeeeee

Getting accepted into Incubate Nepal Before I begin, let me ask you, “Did you know that I was accepted to the cohort of Incubate Nepal 2023?”. Most of you would say, “No!”; leaving a few who had messaged me to learn about my application status. Everyone knows this still, I am emphasizing it, “The public does not know your achievements unless you share them.” What conclusion can you draw from this? Well, if you want to keep something private, just don’t share it on social media. That’s all! Moral lessons apart, how would you react if your application was reviewed by a Harvard alumnus and received a mail stating that you have been shortlisted for the interview process? Awesome? Would you jump out of excitement? It’s totally normal to get overwhelmed in these situations, isn’t it? So, I consider myself abnormal. I didn’t react much to hearing the decision. Perhaps, it could be because the decision was sent in the morning and not at midnight. Had it ...
