1 June, 2021 (18 Jestha, 2078) After months long preparation for the final examination of Grade 10 - the Secondary Education Examination, I heard that the examination would undergo internal evaluation from the school committee and that would determine the final results of this Board Examination. I think I should have been sad for it. But, I wasn't. Instead, I was very happy because - The Pressure was finally RELEASED! I woke up at around 7:30 in the morning. The sky was clear and it was a sunny morning, like every other summer day in my town. I was so stressed with all the preparations for the SEE which had no signs of happening this year. I was 99% sure that the examination would not be held but that little 1% haunted me every day for so long. But, no longer. Along with the second wave of Coronavirus pandemic in Nepal, various misleading articles, news, and media have been diverting the students, making them believe that the Secondary Education Examination (S.E.E.) will be cancelled this year, too. Instead of motivating the students to focus on readings, writings, and other recreational or creative activities, these media have been influencing them to support in an irrational campaign - Say No To SEE. No one, be it a teacher or a student, shall engage in such campaigns unless the media have been providing partial news or updates, that only cover the words of a particular topic and leaves the rest one. For example: a person A said, "We will conduct the SEE when the condition gets back to normal." And person B suggested that the SEE should be cancelled. 138 Words Education Enlightens People with Wisdom The only fact that separates a man from animals is education. It is a general sense of awareness that a person uses to distinguish between right and wrong, good and bad. Often, education is said to be the third eye of an individual. While the two eyes help us to see the world, this third eye which can be obtained from educational institutions like schools, colleges, etc. formally, enlightens us with intellectual ability to observe and perceive the world. Wisdom, is another name for education that is generally gained by informal ways as the formal ones hugely focus on grades rather than morality. A person, who imparts knowledge regarding ethics, behavior, and right acts, and implements them in daily life, is said to be a wise one. Lord Buddha and Mahatma Gandhi are the best examples of it. Image Courtesy: Nepal Television Sukhani Assassination, or Sukhani Hatyakanda, is a sad historical event, which occured on 21st Falgun, 2029 in Sukhani, Illam where 5 martyrs: Netra Ghimire, Biren Rajbansi, Krishna Kuinkel, Ramnath Dahal, and Narayan Shrestha, received martyrdom. These five martyrs were accused of the death of Dharma Prasad Upadhyay, the then member of the National Panchayat (panchayat is the party less political system of governance) and were shot dead by the government. They had also been convicted as the leaders of the Jhapa Revolt, a revolt launched by the Communist Party of Nepal (CPN - Marxist and Leninist) during 2028 for the rights of poor people and against feudalism. In commemoration of these five historical personalities, Sukhani Park has been established in Illam, Nepal, which has the statues of these five erected. It can be seen in the above image.
